Challenge
Aligning high-end projectors traditionally requires manual calibration of the three primary colour channels. This process often involves multiple operators and can be time-consuming and difficult to perfect.
The engineering team at Christie had identified an opportunity to make these precise adjustments electronically within the projector itself. However, translating this capability into an interface that felt clear and approachable presented a significant challenge. Without careful design, the controls risked becoming overly complex, increasing friction for new users while slowing down experienced operators.
Approach
Developed wireframes and real-time interactive prototypes that emphasized clarity, hierarchy, and accessibility of key controls.
Focused on:
Reducing cognitive load through logical grouping of related functions
Kept advanced options accessible without clutter
Exploring interaction patterns that balanced precision control with ease of navigation
Designing feedback mechanisms to help users quickly understand the impact of adjustments
Outcome
Produced interface concepts demonstrating how thoughtful UX design can improve usability without limiting technical capability. The work helped inform internal discussions around product usability and workflow optimization, supporting the development of more efficient calibration experiences.
